We took the boys trick-or-treating Friday night. We only took them to the houses with porch lights on in one direction and back down our street, the equivalent of about 10 houses. There were kids everywhere and several of the houses had large groups of people standing out in the yard handing out candy. Isaac practiced throughout the day, knocking on walls and tables and then saying, "r-treat" "tank-ooo," but once we left our yard, stage fright hit. We didn't hear a word until we got to the last house on the block. There were a couple of young girls handing out candy there and they received a thank-you. There was one house that Jim and I avoided on the first pass because the porch was all decked out with lights and spooky audio and had a witch handing out candy. On the way back by, she called out to him, explaining that she was a nice witch. We were surprised, but he went right up there with us to get the candy. We were not surprised at how eagerly he took the candy at each of the houses! By the time we got to the end of the street, Isaac was pretty tired. We came back to our house, got a bowl of candy, and sat out in the yard on a blanket to hand it out for a little while.
