Home Makeover - Part 2

This is our guest bathroom. Sister Diane and Lynnsey painted both this room and the nursery while I was on bedrest. We've decorated this room with the tropical pieces we received as wedding presents. We also put new light fixtures in both this bathroom and our master bath.

These are pictures of Isaac's room. We decorated it with a Mark Twain theme. My mom made the bedding, pillows, and curtain with a solid green and blue gingham pattern and froggie design for the short story, "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County." We aslo found some old books and pictures on eBay to go with The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

The doll cradle in the picture above was made by Isaac's great, great-grandfather. The bedding on it was made by his great, great-grandmother and 2 great-grandmothers. There are also many quilts and blankets made by several generations of aunts, cousins, and grandmothers and many "adopted" aunts and grandmothers in various places around his room.

The entryway doesn't look like that big of a deal except to those who saw it before we worked on it! :) We took all the plastic pieces off the "disco" chandelier and saved them for our Christmas tree. We then replaced the light, removed the wallpaper, and painted the walls a calm tan.

We are really pleased with how the new rooms have turned out and have both learned a lot about renovation. Probably the biggest thing we've learned, though, is that when househuntiing in Dallas, we will be looking for one that doesn't need quite so much work. :)
